07/12/2009 18:12

The brand new Larnaka International Airport has officially opened. The new state-of-the art airport, which is three times bigger than its predecessor, will be able to handle up to 7.5 million passengers each year. Cyprus now boasts two modern airports following the opening of the new airport in Pafos in November 2008.

The 656 million euros facility represents the island’s biggest infrastructural investment. The new terminal covers an area of 100,000 square metres with features including 67 check-in counters, 16 aircraft walk ways, 11 arrival/departure bus drop-off points and 5,000 square metres of airside retail space.

Bright, modern colours and Cypriot design is featured throughout with a fascia based on Cypriot lace.
