Tourism Australia hopes to boost Australian visa applications through Expo 2010

Tourism Australia is hoping to boost the number of people looking to apply for Australian visas to allow them to visit Australia next year, through its special events being planned for the Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

Chinese people are moving to Australia in huge numbers at the moment, and Tourism Australia sees this as a chance to also promote the country as a holiday destination for the Chinese.

The plan is to stage a game of Australian rules football at the event in the Australian Pavilion. The event will take place on 17 October and will involve a game between two Australian football League clubs: Melbourne and Brisbane.
