Tourism conference opens in Barbados

Chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) John Maginley has underlined the importance of Tourism to the economic development of the Caribbean.

Maginley was among several distinguished persons attending the 11th annual Sustainable Tourism Development conference in Barbados on May 10.

He said this year’s event is very special as it represents his first such conference as the chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization-and the return of the conference after a one year absence. “As such, I am very excited to be part of an event that does so much to further awareness of the need to preserve the Caribbean’s beautiful natural treasures,” said Maginley.

“The Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism, which we all proudly call the Sustainable Tourism Conference (STC) comes at a pivotal time in history, when topics regarding the environment are discussed on global platforms, involving leaders from around the world,” said the chairman.
