Travelport Continues Expansion in Eastern Europe

05/04/2009 09:31

Travelport GDS announced details of a third regional hub office just opened in Warsaw, Poland, and has outlined its plans to provide additional local support to travel agents in the Baltic States (Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania) and Poland.

To be headed up by recently appointed regional manager, Marcin Pilarski, the “North Eastern Europe Hub” is further testament to the GDS provider’s ongoing commitment to the Eastern European region.

News of the new Polish headquarters follows the announcement made by Travelport GDS last year to make a multimillion-dollar investment in Eastern Europe and ramp up its operations across the region in response to the growth opportunity it had identified.

Last year the GDS provider also opened two similar regional hub offices in Budapest and Moscow. The heightened support network for travel agents is being established as part of the company’s commitment to increase its presence on the ground with airline and technical experts, marketers and commercial teams increasing in numbers.

Travelport GDS recently named Pilarski as its new regional manager for North Eastern Europe with responsibility for leading the company’s day to day business operations in Poland and the Baltic States.

As part of its focus on the North Eastern region, Travelport GDS is hosting its first travel distribution conference for airlines, tour operators and travel agents in the local markets.
